Job Description:The Role: Relief Charge Nurse (RN) on 2 West
Provides direct patient care according to scope, standards, policies, values, and mission.
The Opportunity:
Maine General seeks a compassionate RN to join 2 West as a Relief Charge Nurse on the night shift. This full-benefits role involves hands-on patient care and leadership responsibilities, with growth opportunities in clinical leadership and oncology nursing. Comprehensive cross-training in oncology and chemotherapy administration, plus leadership development, will be provided.
This is a 36-hour night shift position (7p-7a), working three 12-hour shifts weekly, with weekend and holiday rotation.
The Work:- Provide high-quality, patient-centered care on the oncology unit during night shifts.
- Administer medications, including chemotherapy (training provided), and monitor responses.
- Collaborate to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Assume Relief Charge Nurse duties as needed, overseeing operations and staff coordination.
- Mentor and resource fellow nurses and staff during shifts.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with policies and safety standards.
- Participate in ongoing oncology care, chemotherapy, and leadership training.
- Active RN license in Maine or ability to obtain one quickly.
- 1-2 years of nursing experience, preferably in acute care; oncology experience is a plus.
- BLS certification.
- Strong clinical skills with a focus on safety and quality.
- Leadership potential or experience preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work night shifts and participate in cross-training.
