Job Description

Food and food service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers not only ensure customers’ products arrive at their destination on time and in good condition, but also represent our company – building lasting relationships with our customers. Drivers are responsible for operating a tractor‑trailor or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over‑the‑road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, drive‑and‑drop, and other routes for the purpose of delivering and/or unloading food and food‑related products to customers in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). communicate and interact with customers, vendors, and co‑workers professionally, ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner. They function as a team member within the department and organization and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.
Responsibilities- Perform all required safety checks, including pre/post‑trip inspections of the tractor, truck, and trailer in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Report all safety issues and repairs required.
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe‑driving guidelines and policies.
- Inspect the trailer for proper load and secure freight.
- Perform a count check of items and verify customer invoices of products that have been loaded.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
- Move the tractor to the loading dock and attach the pre‑loaded trailer as needed.
- Drive to and deliver customer orders according to the predetermined route delivery schedule.
- Unload products from the trailer, transport items into designated customer storage areas.
- Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact the supervisor about removing orders according to company policy.
- Verify delivery of items with the customer and obtain proper signatures.
- Collect money (cash or checks) where required.
- Load customer returns onto the trailer and secure trailer doors.
- Ensure that the tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secure.
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns, bring to the driver check‑in and complete necessary paperwork.
- Unload all equipment, materials, and remove trash from trailers as required.
- Complete a daily record of hours of service and enter it in the log in accordance with Federal, state, and company requirements.
- Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor and loading dock area, keeping trailers clear and clean as required.
- At the end of the shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- 6+ months of commercial driving experience.
- High school diploma, GED, or state‑approved equivalent.
- Valid CDL
B. - Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
- Pass post‑offer drug test and criminal background check.
- Pass road test.
- Valid current DOT Health Card and/or ability to secure a new DOT Health Card.
- Ability to hand‑lift and utilize two‑wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout the shift; generally ranging from 10–35 pounds and up to approximately 60–90 pounds, depending on the location.
