Become part of the York Region District School Board by teaching the Ojibwe language. Enhance the educational experience of students through cultural connection and language instruction in northern YRDSB schools.
This teaching role focuses on implementing YRDSB’s First Nation, Métis, and Inuit Education Strategy while working closely with the Regional Ojibwe Language Team. Fluency in Ojibwe, along with teaching experience, will be highly valued. Your engagement in land-based learning initiatives can significantly enhance cultural education.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead Ojibwe language instruction for various classrooms
• Collaborate with the Ojibwe Language Coordinator on curriculum
• Engage in culturally inclusive teaching practices
• Facilitate land-based learning opportunities
• Promote awareness of Anishinaabek cultural heritage
Requirements:
• Experience in teaching the Ojibwe language is essential
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Familiarity with Indigenous educational practices
• IT skills are considered an asset
• First Nations background or experience preferred
Guide students in mastering the Ojibwe language while nurturing their cultural appreciation at YRDSB.
