Job SummaryThe Office of Medical Education (OME) at the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CUSOM) is seeking an Educational Pathway Director to lead the Accelerated Three-Year Pathway (A3YP). This innovative program is designed to reimagine medical education through acceleration, integration, and alignment with workforce needs.
The A3YP supports several core goals of the School of Medicine:
Students accepted into the CUSOM may matriculate into the A3YP through a collaborative process involving UME and GME leadership. Participants engage in a structured, accelerated curriculum emphasizing professional identity formation, mentorship, scholarly project development, and enhanced clinical skills within their chosen specialty. Upon completion of the three‑year curriculum, students enter a directed pathway to residency match and transition seamlessly into their designated GME program.

This position operates under the Office of Medical Education in the Dean’s Office and reports directly to the Associate Dean of Medical Education, Clerkship Curriculum. The Pathway Director will provide leadership and administrative oversight of all A3YP activities, ensuring alignment with institutional goals, LCME accreditation standards, and the School’s mission to prepare exceptional physicians through innovative educational design.

Examples of Work Performed Admissions and Student Selection (10%)- Develop and direct the secondary admissions committee to select A3YP students for the designated program.
- Collaborate with UME and GME leadership to ensure alignment between student selection criteria and overall program goals.
- Partner with the A3YP Pathway Director and Program Manager to oversee all aspects of student engagement and academic progression across the six‑year UME‑to‑GME continuum.
- Collaborate with UME curriculum leaders to design, implement, and integrate A3YP‑specific curricular elements that align with institutional and program objectives.
- Participate in ongoing program evaluation, incorporating course feedback and assessment data to inform continuous improvement.
- Contribute to A3YP leadership discussions focused on program outcomes, metrics, and strategic planning.
- Meet regularly with students to review academic and professional progress, establish individualized learning goals, and provide tailored mentorship and career advising.
- Serve on the A3YP Progress Committee, providing detailed feedback to both students and committee members, and participate in remediation or deceleration processes when indicated.
- Participate in the Trek Progress Committee as needed.
- Collaborate with the Office of Student Life and GME teams to support student success and facilitate residency advising and directed pathway residency matching.
- Support students and GME program leaders in developing individualized learning plans and structured handoffs to ensure a smooth transition to residency.
- Collaborate with GME leaders to provide continued mentorship, advising, and regular progress reviews for residents who have matriculated through A3YP.
- Build and maintain relationships with clinical affiliates, hospitals, and community partners to support student placements, workforce development, and loan repayment initiatives.
