* What You Will Do:
*** This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated
** Principal System Safety Engineer
** to join us on the Air and Space team in Aurora Colorado.
* As a
** Principal System Safety Engineer**, your responsibilities will include:
* Analysis of engineering hardware, mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics assessing for fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety requirements compliance.
* Work with system test and tactical operation and maintenance procedures to ensure the proper administrative system safety controls are in place.
* Work across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
* Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds
* Performing System Safety Program or Design analyses
* Working with a large system safety program or multiple mid-sized safety programs, including:
* Monitoring program technical execution,
* Interfacing with stakeholders (e.g. customers, program offices, subcontractors, vendors)
* Preparing Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for Customer Approval
* Briefing safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
* Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards
* Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
* Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design
* ** This position is posted as ONSITE and can be based at Raytheon’s Dulles Virgina location.
**** Qualifications You Must Have:
*** Typically Requires:
Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant Systems Engineering or Safety Engineering experience. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position.
* Experience with:
System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Safety Engineering.
* Active U.S. government issued TS/SCI security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
** Qualifications We Prefer:
*** Experience with DoD System Safety Programs e.g. MIL-STD-882
* Experience with system and software safety implementation in Agile Development environment
* Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development
* Master’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
