Job Title: Postdoctoral Fellow – Cornea & External Diseases

Position # – Requisition #38042

Job Summary

Full‑time (1.0 FTE) Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct research in the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases using data science and artificial intelligence. Duties include staying current with the literature; designing clinical studies; processing and grading images; performing statistical and machine‑learning analyses (especially deep learning); preparing manuscripts, presentations, and grant proposals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and conduct clinical studies, including data quality control, missing data analysis, diagnostic accuracy, longitudinal and survival analyses, and disease‑progression modeling.
  • Apply image processing, grading, and machine‑learning techniques on OCT, OCT angiography, and photography data.
  • Present research findings at conferences and seminars.
  • Prepare manuscripts for journal publication and grant applications.
  • Teach image‑processing, grading, and statistics to research and clinical trainees.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or PhD with expertise in Ophthalmology, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or Machine Learning.
  • One year of research experience (e.g., thesis or other projects) in relevant areas.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with image grading, analysis, machine learning, clinical data analysis, and study design.
  • Knowledge of neural networks and other machine‑learning techniques.

  • Strong verbal and written communication, able to explain complex processes.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines.

    Hiring range for Postdoctoral Fellows:

    • Level 0 – $62,232
    • Level 1 – $62,652
    • Level 2 – $63,120
    • Level 3 – $65,640
    • Level 4 – $67,824
    • Level 5 – $70,344
