Job Title: Clinical Practice Instructor - Physical Therapist

Position # - Requisition #37904

Job Summary

The University of Colorado Hemophilia & Thrombosis Center (HTC) seeks a skilled and compassionate Physical Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team in delivering comprehensive care for pediatric and adult patients with inherited bleeding and clotting disorders, including hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, and other rare coagulation conditions. The HTC PT Program is comprised of a diverse array of service areas including orthopedics, gait, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and quality improvement and operates within a collaborative environment supporting program maintenance and development.

This is a faculty-level, full-time clinical role emphasizing patient-centered care and education for the bleeding disorders population. Bleeding disorders patients are seen for annual multidisciplinary evaluations and additional clinical visits for acute bleeding episodes, chronic hemarthropathy, related orthopedic and functional concerns, and pain complaints. While all PT team members contribute to care across all service areas, each service area has a designated coordinator who plays a key role in upholding evidence-based, high quality patient care and fostering program development.

There will be opportunities for this PT to function in a service area coordinator role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comprehensive Clinical Care - Perform full physical therapy assessments and provide individualized treatment for patients with bleeding and clotting disorders across acute, chronic, and post-operative settings.
  • Evidence-Based Treatment - Utilize tools such as the Hemophilia Joint Health Score (HJHS) to guide care and implement interventions including exercise, neuromuscular re-education, manual therapy, and gait training.
  • Orthopedic Leadership - Lead and coordinate the orthopedic physical therapy service area, developing protocols, ensuring quality standards, and mentoring other physical therapists.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration - Partner with hematologists, surgeons, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, and regional HTC teams to deliver cohesive, patient-centered care.
  • Patient & Family Education - Provide guidance on musculoskeletal health, self-care, physical activity, bleed prevention, and rehabilitation strategies tailored to patients and families.
  • Community Engagement & Outreach - Deliver services at regional outreach clinics, summer camps, and educational events while supporting community PTs with specialized consultation.
  • Research & Quality Improvement - Contribute to clinical research, quality improvement projects, and the development of clinical care pathways while maintaining compliance with HIPAA, IRB, and institutional standards.
Work Location

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.
