Overview

University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus – Department of Psychiatry – Faculty – Professor rank in Mental Health Services Research, Epidemiology, Economics and Health Policy. Position # – Requisition #38636.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of the Preventing Suicide Initiative to set up national and global centers of excellence for suicide prevention, healthcare quality and integrated care research at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
  • Perform innovative programmatic research to advance understanding, assessment, prevention, and treatment of behavioral health issues in youth, including self‑injury and suicide.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including external collaborators, supported by grant and foundation funding.
  • Contribute to development of innovative clinical, educational, and research programs related to youth mental health and suicide to enhance the reputation of the CAMH Division.
  • Establish and strengthen partnerships with on‑campus and non‑academic partners to improve youth and family mental health in Colorado and nationally.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to mentoring colleagues and training the next cadre of scientists and physicians.
  • Maintain a robust record of funding, including contracts and grants from federal and non‑federal sources.
  • Formulate scalable strategies, best practices, and other approaches to improve health and health care at a population level.
  • Support faculty recruitment and infrastructure for faculty development.
Supervision

Reports to the Director of Suicide Prevention and Hospital‑Based Research and the Chair of the CAMH Division of the Department of Psychiatry.

Work Location

Onsite – Colorado Springs, CO.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD or equivalent in economics, health policy, epidemiology, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years of research experience in mental health care and suicide prevention.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in economic evaluations of health care interventions.
  • Experience designing and conducting rigorous, pragmatic research on behavioral health, suicide prevention, or related areas.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of ethical principles and IRB procedures with high‑risk populations.
  • Proven success securing sustained contract or grant funding from federal or large foundation sources.
  • Ability to lead multi‑partner initiatives and collaborations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Track record of mentoring trainees.
  • Administration and leadership abilities for medium‑ to large‑scale projects.

    Anticipated Pay Range

    Professor: $175,000 to $205,000. (Non‑exempt; total compensation includes benefits.)
