Design, implement, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server (on-prem and cloud) and AWS-managed databases (RDS, Aurora, Dynamo
DB, Managed Instance).
Perform SQL Server and No
SQL (Mongo
DB) installations, upgrades, patches, migrations, and configuration management. Implement High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions (Always-On, clustering, replication, multi-AZ/sharding).
Monitor, analyze, and optimize database performance, indexing, query execution plans, and resource utilization.
Troubleshoot and remediate database-related incidents, including participation in on-call support.
Develop and implement robust backup, recovery, and archiving strategies to ensure data integrity and minimal downtime.
Ensure database security and compliance by managing user access, encryption, IAM roles, and audit readiness.
Collaborate with application development and Dev Ops teams to support schema design, database requirements, and automated deployments.
Automate provisioning, patching, and monitoring tasks using scripts (Python, Bash, Power Shell) and IaC tools (Terraform, Cloud Formation).
Stay current with SQL Server, AWS, Mongo
DB, and emerging database/cloud technologies; recommend best practices for adoption.
Develop and maintain procedures, standards, runbooks, and documentation for repeatability and compliance.
Required Qualification- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience as a SQL Server DBA with expertise in installation, upgrades, migrations, backup/recovery, security, and performance tuning.
- Proven experience with No
SQL databases (Mongo
DB), including sharding, replication, and performance optimization. - Strong experience managing databases on AWS (RDS, Aurora, Dynamo
DB, EC2, S3, Cloud Watch, IAM). - Solid knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server High Availability (Always‑On) and clustering solutions.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, SQL Server internals, and AWS/Azure cloud platforms (Managed Instance, storage, and security fundamentals).
- Proficient in SQL; working knowledge of Python (preferred) or other scripting languages.
- Strong problem‑solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills with ability to resolve complex database issues.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
- Microsoft SQL Server DBA, AWS Certified Database – Specialty, or equivalent.
- Hands‑on experience with Mongo
DB Atlas and hybrid/multi‑cloud environments. - Familiarity with Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Terraform, Ansible, or Cloud Formation).
- Experience in Dev Ops‑oriented environments, supporting CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
- Strong initiative, leadership, and ownership mindset.
