Our deep roots in the financial industry have empowered us to develop convenient, easily accessible financial services that meet our customers' growing needs.

We are seeking a skilled Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) to own the reliability, performance, monitoring, and security of our database ecosystem across AWS RDS, Aurora, Postgre

SQL, and SQL Server. This role plays a critical part in ensuring production stability, improving database operations, strengthening governance, and supporting our shift toward real‑time ingestion and a modern Data Cloud platform.

You will work closely with Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Info Sec, and Data Governance teams to streamline database operations, improve observability, and maintain a secure, compliant environment. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex production issues, optimizing systems, and building long‑lasting, scalable database practices.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and optimize databases across AWS RDS, Aurora (MySQL/Postgres), Postgre

    SQL, and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Build and enhance monitoring and alerting for availability, performance, replication lag, storage, and system anomalies using Cloud Watch, Datadog, or similar tools.
  • Ensure database performance tuning, capacity planning, HA/DR readiness, and operational excellence.
  • Proactively track database health and address performance or stability issues before they impact production.
  • Lead backup, recovery, retention, and failover strategies.
  • Act as a key responder for critical production database incidents, ensuring fast diagnosis and resolution.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement long‑term preventive improvements.
  • Improve response playbooks, runbooks, dashboards, and observability practices.
  • Lead efforts to standardize and clean up database access, aligning permissions with least‑privilege and governance standards.
  • Work with Data Governance and Info Sec to ensure compliance, auditing, encryption, and secure access patterns.
  • Maintain consistent operational and security practices across all environments.
  • Partner with the Data Engineering team to support modern pipelines, schema design improvements, and real‑time ingestion architectures.
  • Provide guidance on query optimization, SQL reviews, and data model considerations.
  • Support the evolution of our data platform, including real‑time ingestion (CDC, Kafka, Kinesis, etc.).
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes, improve monitoring tools, and streamline operations.
  • Maintain documentation, runbooks, and best practices to improve reliability and cross‑team collaboration.
  • Contribute to tooling improvements that elevate database visibility and performance.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years in a database‑focused engineering or reliability role.
  • Strong hands‑on expertise with AWS RDS & Aurora (Postgre

    SQL/MySQL), Postgre

SQL administration & tuning, SQL Server administration.
  • Strong understanding of performance tuning and diagnostics.
  • Experience with high availability, replication, DR, and failover mechanisms.
  • Backup and restore operations experience.
  • IAM, access control, encryption, and auditability knowledge.
  • Monitoring and observability best practices.
  • Experience supporting mission‑critical production databases.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to communicate effectively under pressure.
  • Comfortable partnering with data engineering teams.
  • Preferred:
Experience with Snowflake or interest in supporting its adoption.
  • Exposure to real‑time ingestion (Kafka, Kinesis, CDC, DMS).
  • Familiarity with infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, Cloud Formation).
  • Experience with observability tools (Cloud Watch, Datadog, Grafana, New Relic).

A proactive, detail‑oriented engineer who thrives in fast‑paced environments, prioritizes reliability and monitoring excellence, and enjoys collaborating to build a secure, scalable, and modern data platform.
