American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a surgical oncology unit, requiring 2 years of acute care experience and prior teaching hospital experience.

• Surgical oncology unit within a 36-bed teaching hospital
• Patient population primarily involves gynecologic oncology, colorectal, pancreatic, liver, and stomach cancers requiring surgical intervention
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, which may flex based on staffing and unit needs
• No chemotherapy or biotherapy administered on this unit
• Uses Epic charting system
• Rotating day/night 3x12 shifts (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30)
• Weekend shifts required per unit needs
• Floating required within scope, including to sister facilities as needed
• No on-call requirements

• Active CO or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Trauma Level I hospital experience required
• Comfort and prior experience working with flexible nurse-to-patient staffing ratios required
• Epic charting experience required

• Provide post-surgical nursing care to oncology patients, helping them achieve milestones for discharge
• Skilled in IV therapy, central line and port care, wound care, ostomy care, and chest tube management
• Experience with symptom management including nausea/vomiting, altered mental status, and oncologic emergencies such as sepsis and anaphylaxis preferred
• Navy scrub color required
• First-time travelers accepted only if they have teaching hospital experience
• Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout periods where RTO is not permitted
• No blocked scheduling requests allowed
• Local candidates accepted
