Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral Fellow for a T32 grant to join the Shellman Lab in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. The appointment will be for a two to three‑year period. The Shellman Lab values innovation, collaboration, and mentorship, and is committed to supporting the professional development of its trainees. Our research focuses on aging, anti‑tumor immunity, and vesicle trafficking using established models, with strong translational relevance.

We welcome candidates with a background in cell biology or immunology. Experience with microscopy techniques, molecular biology, omics analyses, and tissue culture is highly desirable. The successful candidate will contribute to projects supported by strong preliminary data, including:

  • Investigating the role of a key protein in regulating vesicle trafficking, with relevant biological endpoints already identified.
  • Exploring the differentiation and maintenance of pigmenting cell lineage using validated human iPSC‑to‑melanocyte models.
  • Studying host factors that influence antitumor immunity with our in‑vitro or in‑vivo models.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct tissue culture and molecular biological experiments.
  • Perform microscopy‑based imaging techniques to study membrane and vesicle trafficking.
  • Carry out DNA, RNA harvesting for single‑cell sequencing and analysis.
  • Design, plan, and troubleshoot experiments independently.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data.
  • Present findings in weekly lab meetings and at national/international conferences.
  • Summarize data and present findings in weekly discussions, lab meetings, or national/international conferences.
Work Location

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Graduated from an accredited college/university with a PhD in any biology related program.
Prior successful working experience with tissue cultures and various molecular biology techniques.
All applicants for this position must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer‑sponsored Work Visa assistance.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in microscopy‑based imaging techniques or omic data analyses.
The ability to work independently within the research lab.
