Job Title: Bilingual Data Collector – Research Services Professional (Entry/Intermediate)

Job Summary:

Family Matters team (Principal Investigator: Dr. Jerica Berge). This is a NIH-funded research opportunity focused on recruitment, retention, and data collection for a large-scale longitudinal cohort study and innovative clinical trial. Studies examine risk and protective factors for childhood health in low-income and minority households in Denver, CO and the Twin Cities, MN. All visits will occur when families are available;

afternoon/evening and weekend visits are expected.

The Data Collector team member will: work with families across the Family Matters program timeframe to collect baseline, 6-month, and 12-month family-level data; train and carry out mixed-methods measures with families (e.g., anthropometry, mHealth technology, dietary recalls, video-recorded family meals, surveys, etc.); use Red Cap and other programs to track families and measurement time points; engage in video coding of participants family meals;

help develop protocols and materials for data collection with families; and engage in video-recorded supervision to improve measurement skills.

Key Responsibilities / Duties
  • 50% Recruitment, Data Collection and Management
    • Lead efforts to retain study participants over 12-18 months, including developing and overseeing outreach processes, coordinating schedules, tracking progress and reporting results to the Project Director and PI, updating Red Cap, and managing the delivery of incentives by providing leadership to study staff as the point person for questions in the gift card system.
    • Collect anthropometric and survey data virtually from families; virtual data collection visits conducted from ACCORDS office (1890 N. Revere Court, Anschutz Campus).
    • Collect biological data including anthropometry, hair samples, and blood pressure; coordinate blood sample collection from parent and child participants.
  • 15% Serve as staff lead for sibling data collection
    • Coordinate data collection for over 300 siblings; develop and maintain protocols, train staff in sibling data collection, and report weekly progress to Project Director and PI.
  • 10% Staff Training and Virtual Measurement Lead
    • Train and certify staff in collecting virtual heights, weights, and neck circumference.
    • Review virtual measurements and provide ongoing feedback to ensure adherence to study protocols.
  • 10% Protocol Development
    • Assist PI and Project Director in developing detailed data collection protocols and monitor implementation for consistency and data quality.
    • Propose solutions to barriers faced by participants and revise protocols accordingly.
    • Periodically assess study protocols for quality improvement and ensure accuracy in recruitment-related activities and messaging.
  • 10% Study Operations Support
    • Attend weekly team meetings, assist with data entry and study protocols, and provide other duties as assigned.
    • Engage in problem solving using data and project management tools; identify needs and adapt plans/materials as directed by the PI/study team.
    • Ensure meticulous study documentation of protocol changes or significant events.
  • 5% Translation
    • Translate data collection materials as needed (e.g., participant handouts, recruitment materials).
Work Location

Hybrid – 2-3 days per week on campus with in-person meetings as needed.
