Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking a committed and experienced Safety Support Supervisor to lead daily safety and security operations, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment across our programs and facilities. As part of a dedicated team, the Safety Support Supervisor plays a crucial role in supporting clients’ healthy engagement by providing and overseeing first‑line responses to client escalations and incidents in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in safety and security within healthcare or mental health, with proven expertise in managing high‑pressure situations. A commitment to trauma‑informed care and an ability to build rapport with clients are essential for success in this role.
Schedule. This position will work fully On‑site/In‑person, Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Salary for this role. Starting wage is based on experience and company equity. Paid bi‑weekly.
- $18.87 – $31.31 per hour
- Protect staff, clients, and AMHR property by maintaining a safe and secure environment.
- Identify any safety or security concerns, including signs of crime or disorder, investigate disturbances, and address them accordingly.
- Report any safety concerns, security breaches, and unusual circumstances verbally and provide a written report.
- The Supervisor directs and develops the staff and ensures proper trainings are completed to deliver services that meet business requirements.
- Assist in hiring qualified employees by participating in the interview process and making recommendations regarding the employment of applicants.
- Maintain security/safety schedule across the AMHR properties and ensure staffing is consistent.
- Ensure that administrative records and reports regarding personnel are accurate and current by reviewing employee timecards and monitoring employee absences.
- Enforce company rules and policies regarding employee conduct by advising personnel of the company’s rules and policies on employee conduct, issuing verbal warnings and written reprimands for violations, and progressive disciplinary action as appropriate.
- Engage with clients and staff to support healthy and therapeutic engagement, management of interpersonal conflict, and prevention of escalation and other critical incidents.
- Provide first line response to escalated clients and incidents.
- Perform both verbal de‑escalation and physical management/control techniques on individuals showing signs of emotional, verbal and/or physical aggression.
- Transport or provide support during transportation of escalated clients or clients in crisis.
- Act lawfully in direct defense of life or property.
- Detain criminals and evict violators.
- Monitor and control access at building entrances, including patrolling buildings and perimeter.
- Monitor alarm systems or video cameras and operate detecting/emergency equipment if applicable.
- Unlock and secure buildings as directed.
- Greet all guests, clients, and employees in a cheerful and welcoming manner.
- Participate in and helps facilitate safety drills across our facilities.
- Participate in multi‑disciplinary meetings as requested.
- Provide excellent customer services, adhering to AMHR’s values and philosophy of care.
- Provide operational and procedural support to ensure daily operations are executed in accordance with established procedures.
- Demonstrate commitment to professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment in all business transactions, and providing the highest customer satisfaction.

- Promote a safety‑oriented culture.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in a security/safety role is required.
