Job Summary :

Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking a full-time Diabetologist/Endocrinologist at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor to work in the Adult Division. The Center provides state-of-the-art diabetes care to over 2,500 adults with type 1 diabetes or insulin requiring type 2 diabetes. This is a position requiring an enthusiasm for medical research and knowledge or interest in type 1 diabetes.

A combination of previous clinical and research experience, diverse talents and excellent interpersonal skills is required.

The Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes (BDC) is the largest diabetes institute in the world specializing in type 1 diabetes research and care for children and adults. Over 200 employees, including clinicians, clinical researchers, basic biomedical scientists and supporting staff work at the BDC to find the most effective treatment, prevention, and/or cure for type 1 diabetes. This position requires enthusiasm for, and dedication to, diabetes clinical care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organization, planning, and directing of clinical programming for the BDC Adult Diabetes Division related to the delivery of medical care and clinical services such as utilization review, quality assurance, and medical protocol development.
  • Assist in the organization and co-directing ATDC annual Keystone conference.
  • Oversee the activities of group physicians and other providers, including the recruiting and credentialing processes.
  • Develop a transition program from pediatric to adult clinic for ongoing care.
  • Develop a robust and reimbursable telehealth program.
  • Work with division director regarding finances.
  • Provide direction and input to other medical and administrative leaders at the University.
  • Develop projects aimed at improving the specialty and the department mission.
  • Provide diabetes care to newly diagnosed and established adult patients with type 1 diabetes
  • Monitor quality, access to, and appropriateness of medical care.
  • Provide guidance for performance guidelines as mentor.
  • Develop policies and procedures as needed.
  • Participate in strategic development.
  • Oversee documentation and care planning, working with IT and QI team.
  • Resolve complaints from clinical patients.
  • Address emergency issues.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.
