Primary

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and implement developmentally appropriate preschool programs
  • Lead class activities
  • Maintain confidential records of children’s information and progress
  • Record and monitor daily attendance
  • Provide a safe classroom environment and inspect equipment/materials for safety
  • Maintain classroom management and discipline according to policies and safety codes
  • Provide regular communication with parents using approved tools
  • Recruit parent helpers and guest speakers
  • Complete assignments/assessments for Universal Preschool Program classrooms
  • Create Individual Learning Plans twice a year and perform required assessments
  • Conduct two annual parent/teacher conferences and additional conferences as needed
  • Set up/clean up classroom as designated by Preschool Supervisor
  • Routine cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting of classroom and materials
  • Attend meetings and workshops; fulfill all assigned training hours (15) required by the CD Childcare regulations and City of Aurora
  • Occasional virtual teaching
  • Maintain Colorado Shines rating standards and PDIS credential
  • Market and recruit new students
  • Follow all applicable rules, regulations, policies, procedures and best practices from governing bodies
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications & Working Conditions
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Education:

    meet the education and experience guidelines for an Early Childhood Teacher as outlined by the Colorado Department of Early Childhood Rules and Regulations 2.216A
  • Experience:

    minimum experience hours as determined by the Colorado Department of Early Childhood
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    at least two years of experience with children in a licensed program
  • Knowledge: child development, preschool curriculum, classroom management, computing skills, Colorado Early Learning Guidelines, governing rules
  • Skills:

    organization, customer service, crisis management, interpersonal skills, planning, Windows computer skills
  • Abilities: build effective relationships, handle sensitive situations, communicate effectively, manage classroom environments, promote positive guidance, problem-solve, ensure accuracy, timely task completion
  • Licenses &

    Certifications:

    meet all CDHS/CDOE requirements, background checks, current Early Childhood Teacher qualification or Credential Level II+, FEMA disaster training, safety trainings, ongoing professional development requirements
Working Conditions
  • Essential Personnel: may be required to work during emergencies or disasters
  • Physical Demands: lift up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and other movements; vision/hearing requirements; extensive communication
  • Work Environment: primarily indoor with some outdoor exposure; dust, sun, odors, and noise
  • Equipment Used: standard office equipment and preschool-specific software and databases; may require use of personal devices
