Teacher - Music (HM/CH) Leave Cover (4/7/26-5/22/26)
Community Unit School District 308
Compensation: $125 per day for the first ten (10) days of the assignment; then $150 per day for the remainder of the assignment.
Qualifications- A valid/registered Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Elementary Education (Self Contained General Education) endorsement.
- Recent teaching experience at the elementary level (excluding new graduates).
- Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum, instructional methods and current teaching techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and time management skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, team members, and others.
The Teacher leads students towards the fulfillment of their potential by translating district curriculum goals and objectives into learning experiences that will contribute to the development of skills necessary for becoming a mature and responsible individual.
Specific Responsibilities- Establish a learning environment that functions effectively.
- Demonstrate effective instruction by engaging students in their learning.
- Commit to high ethical and professional standards and seek to improve professional practice.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively plan and prepare lessons.
- Demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy.
- Apply knowledge of students’ backgrounds, strengths, needs, and interests to plan for groups of students.
- Set instructional outcomes that reflect high-level learning and curriculum standards.
- Utilize resources available through the school or district to enhance own knowledge or to support student learning.
- Design coherent instruction aligned to instructional outcomes.
- Develop student assessments aligned with instructional outcomes and use clear criteria.
- Use assessment results to plan for future instruction to meet student needs.
- Create an environment of respect and rapport.
- Establish a culture for learning with high expectations for all students.
- Effectively manage classroom procedures to minimize instructional time lost.
- Effectively manage student behavior by establishing clear standards and responding appropriately.
- Organize physical space to ensure safety and accessibility.
- Use clear oral and written language to communicate expectations and content.
- Use questioning techniques to elicit high-quality responses.
- Engage students in learning through activities, assignments, structure, and pace that support rigor.
- Use assessments that allow students to understand criteria and performance.
- Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness, adjusting lessons with minimal disruption.
- Reflect on teaching and use reflections to improve future instruction.
- Maintain accurate records and develop efficient systems for student completion and progress.
- Effectively communicate with families to engage them in the learning process.
- Actively participate in the professional learning community and collaborate with colleagues.
- Pursue professional development opportunities and share expertise.
- Demonstrate professionalism through integrity and ethical conduct, complying with regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective teaching and learning.
