Job DescriptionCollaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and objectives. Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to design site grading plans and prepare erosion control documents, including permitting and SWPPP submittals. Conduct stormwater design plans for each component of the project and perform occasional site visits and inspections to assess project feasibility, identify potential issues, and ensure compliance with regulations and standards.

- Conduct stormwater design plans for each component of the project.
- Perform occasional site visits and inspections to assess project feasibility, identify potential issues, and ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
- Proficient in AutoCAD with strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D for grading plans.
- Familiar with stormwater design.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
Skills & Qualifications
- BS in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
- 0‑3 years of experience in civil site design.
- EIT Certification or ability to obtain it within a year.
The company has about 50 employees and is located in Aurora. The position involves working in‑office all five days with standard hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The team includes 4 staff engineers, 5 principals (PEs)/owners, 4 other PEs who are not owners, 2 project engineers who run their own projects, and 3 staff engineers who support their work. The individual will be a staff engineer supporting a variety of projects between the different PEs.
All work closely with engineers, receiving training and guidance in Civil 3D and learning the company's way of doing work. The role involves working on 3‑4 projects at a time, each with a stormwater design component.
This is a long‑term opportunity with potential to become a project engineer, run own projects, train and develop others, and even become an owner. The company is a leader in residential work with many repeat customers and offers comprehensive training and development opportunities.
Job Type & LocationContract to Hire. Based out of Aurora, IL.
Pay And BenefitsPay range: $35.09 – $36.00 /hr.
