Responsibilities
  • Provide direct and indirect physical therapy services as outlined in students’ IEPs or Section 504 plans.
  • Conduct assessments of gross motor skills, functional mobility, strength, balance, coordination, and postural control for students referred for evaluation.
  • Participate in IEP/Section 504 process, providing input on assessment measures, intervention strategies, and student progress.
  • Collaborate with the special education team to deliver comprehensive services.
  • Consult with teachers, administrators, parents, and stakeholders regarding students’ physical development and accessibility accommodations.
  • Work with staff to integrate physical therapy strategies into the school environment.
  • Train staff and caregivers on positioning, transfers, adaptive equipment, and mobility strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate physical therapy interventions.
  • Recommend, modify, and monitor adaptive equipment and assistive devices.
  • Maintain accurate records and update the Special Education Administrator on changes.
  • Track student progress and maintain service logs.
  • Handle confidential matters professionally.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
  • Valid state licensure as a Physical Therapist
  • Experience in school settings
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge of IEPs and commitment to student success
