Medical Technologist & Lab Technician, Clinical Research
Responsibilities
- Must perform waived, moderate, or highly complex tests authorized by CLIA and listed under CFR 493.1425 and 493.1495. Must possess a degree of skill commensurate with education, training, or experience and technical abilities.
- Adhere to laboratory procedures for collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
- Follow laboratory’s quality control policies and procedures; document corrective actions when test systems deviate from performance specifications.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance; correct or notify supervisor, Director, or Medical Director promptly.
- Perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures requiring independent judgment using manual and automated methods in Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and other disciplines introduced into the laboratory.
- Perform and document maintenance—daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed—for instruments and equipment.
- Review the accuracy of patient results prior to release or reporting.
- Recognize age‑specific differences in expected results for newborns to geriatrics.
- Test proficiency testing samples the same way as patient samples; do not collaborate with other laboratories before reporting results to agencies.
- May perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on age groups from newborn to geriatrics.
- Assist in developing and maintaining laboratory policies and procedures.
- Adhere to department and hospital policies on safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and human resources.
- In absence of supervisor, may act as Lead Tech, responsible for section or department during shift.
- May be assigned responsibilities related to LIS and/or POCT.
- Other tasks may be assigned by department manager/director.
- ASCP certification, or equivalent, preferred.
- One year hospital laboratory work experience preferred, but not required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements stated in CLIA (42 CFR 493.1423).
- Current and valid state license if the laboratory is in a state where required.

Pay TransparencyCompetitive compensation estimated at $26.40 to $38.24 per hour. Final starting compensation will consider skill set, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
