Salary: $40.79 – $53.03 per hour (salary placement depends on experience, equity, and collective‑bargaining rules for union positions).

Description

The Physical Therapist works within the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine (NM), adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities include direct patient care, teaching, participation on committees, and departmental process improvement. The incumbent serves as a role model for all therapists and clinical interns in professional, clinical, communication, education, and leadership activities.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate NM values of teamwork, patients first, integrity, and excellence in all interactions.
  • Maintain a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Provide accurate, timely patient updates, address questions promptly, and refer patients to appropriate resources.
  • Use service‑recovery skills to resolve problems or service breakdowns.
  • Own the primary responsibility for patient plans of care, collaborating with treating PT/PA staff.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by supporting coworkers across departments and communicating effectively.
  • Use unit/department resources efficiently and manage your work schedule to meet deadlines.
  • Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives and cost‑reduction efforts.
  • Apply creative problem‑solving and adaptability to special patient circumstances.
  • Select appropriate evaluation methods and treatment modalities; perform re‑evaluations according to guidelines.
  • Complete daily EMR notes documenting patient response, performance, and assessment.
  • Provide educational materials tailored to patient understanding and motivation.
  • Participate in committees, departmental processes, and special projects.
  • Build professional relationships with healthcare teams and participate in marketing activities as required.
  • Create respectful communication culture through listening, collaboration, and timely feedback.
  • Proactively complete non‑patient care responsibilities within established timelines.
  • Contribute to educational efforts (e.g., in‑services, journal clubs, orientation).
  • Serve as clinical instructor, mentor, or observation host in student clinical programs.
  • Maintain department productivity standards and flex schedule to meet patient needs.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Licensed Physical Therapist in the State of Illinois.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (upon hire).
Preferred
  • Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy.
