PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Salary to commensurate with experience.

The Hiring Range For This Position Is:

Traffic Signals Tech:$22.69-$28.37/Hourly

Traffic Signals Tech II: $24.28-$30.36/Hourly

Traffic Signals Tech III: $25.98-$32.48/Hourly

Candidates must reside in Colorado at time of hire

OVERVIEW OF POSITION / DEPARTMENT

The Traffic Signals Technician I-III roles involve skilled manual and technical work related to the control, maintenance, and operation of the city traffic control system, with each level progressing in complexity and responsibility. All technicians assist in work planning by scheduling, organizing, and securing the necessary materials and equipment to effectively complete assigned tasks for the Traffic Signals workgroup. While the core responsibilities remain consistent across all three levels, the distinction between them lies in the level of expertise and the complexity of the tasks undertaken.

PRIMARY

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Traffic Signals Technician:

  • Operates or uses a variety of tools and equipment related to traffic control maintenance function.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance inspections and makes minor repairs of traffic control equipment.
  • Coordinates and schedules routine maintenance activities.
  • Assists in performing skilled maintenance and construction tasks including the installation and testing of traffic signal control equipment.
  • Operates diagnostic equipment.
  • Maintains various records such as equipment, time, supplies, and parts inventory.
  • Assists in training other employees in routine maintenance tasks.
  • Assists other maintenance groups (such as signs and markings and streets) as needed
Traffic Signals Tech II:

  • Operates or uses a variety of tools and equipment related to traffic control maintenance function.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance inspections and makes minor repairs of traffic control equipment.
  • Coordinates and schedules routine maintenance activities.
  • Assists in performing skilled maintenance and construction tasks including the installation and testing of traffic signal control equipment.
  • Operates diagnostic equipment.
  • Maintains various records such as equipment, time, supplies, and parts inventory.
  • Assists in training other employees in routine maintenance tasks.
  • May act as lead worker.
Traffic Signals Tech III:

  • Operates or uses a variety of tools and equipment related to traffic control maintenance function.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance inspections and makes repairs of traffic control equipment.
  • Coordinates and schedules routine maintenance activities.
  • Assists in performing skilled maintenance and construction tasks including the installation and testing of traffic signal control equipment.
  • Operates diagnostic equipment.
  • Maintains various records such as equipment, time, supplies, and parts inventory.
  • Assists in training other employees in routine maintenance tasks.
  • May act as lead worker.
  • Performs additional duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Education:

Traffic Signals Technician:

  • High School Diploma or GED
Experience:

  • Knowledge of practices and techniques of traffic maintenance functions desired.
  • Applicable safety practices and procedures.
Skills:

  • Use of tools, specialized equipment, methods, and safety practices common to assigned maintenance function.
  • Proficiency in operating aerial lift equipment.
