Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, repair, and operation of irrigation systems and related equipment
- Repair PVC pipes (from 1/2 inch to 6 inches) and perform minor electrical repairs
- Conduct locates and inspections; operate computerized controls and satellite controllers
- Program irrigation using central control systems; maintain operation, maintenance, and repair records
- Maintain parts and supplies inventory; assist in bidding and purchasing
- Assist in training other employees and act in supervisory capacity as needed
- Respond to public inquiries following policies and procedures
- Work on a rotating on-call schedule
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Note:

- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 2 years of maintenance experience and 1 year of irrigation experience; experience with mainlines, laterals, valve repair, electrical components, and radios
- Class B CDL with airbrakes and tanker endorsement (required within 6 months)
- Sustainable Landscape Management cert (within 12 months)
- Annual reuse water training cert (within 12 months)
- Cross Connection Control and Backflow Prevention Device Tester certifications (within 12 months)
- May require additional licenses/certifications as related to duties
- May require use of personal equipment occasionally
- Certified Irrigation Technician (Irrigation Association)
- Certified Landscape Technician - Irrigation (National Association of Landscape Professionals)
- Confined space certification
- Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (Irrigation Association)
- Knowledge of irrigation practices, equipment, and systems; ability to read blueprints
- Safety awareness and water conservation knowledge
- Tools and equipment handling for parks maintenance and irrigation construction
- Intermediate computer skills
- Essential Personnel: may be required to work during emergencies
- Physical Demands: moderate to heavy lifting; climbing, bending, pushing/pulling; full range of body movement
- Work Environment: outdoors and indoors; exposure to weather, noise, fumes, dust, and chemicals; may work in confined spaces; weekends possible
- Equipment Used: irrigation and maintenance tools, trucks and heavy equipment, computers and irrigation software
