SummaryTo ensure all job duties are conducted in a safe and professional manner at all times, the Operator must follow the chain of command and report directly to the Production Supervisor (Extrusion) for all aspects of their job functions. The Operator is directly responsible for the safety, quality, output, and housekeeping of his/her assigned lines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Manufacturing – line setup, scrap control, quality checks, new‑hire training, preparation of required paperwork, and reporting maintenance, quality, resin, housekeeping, safety, or production issues to the Shift Supervisor.
- Operational Communications – verbally communicate with co‑workers about problems and activities.
- Health and Safety – adhere to safety policies and procedures, visually inspect the work environment for hazards, maintain compliance with OSHA, company, and housekeeping rules.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent or previous manufacturing experience preferred.
Language SkillsAbility to read, write, understand, and communicate in English. Ability to comprehend oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to perform basic functional math (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing) and accurately read a tape measure.
Physical DemandsThe employee is regularly required to talk and listen, keep up with moderate‑speed production machines, and perform manual dexterity tasks involving arm, wrist, and back movement. The employee routinely bends, lifts up to 50 pounds, pulls and drags sheets of plastic, climbs stairs, pushes a broom, operates roll carts or pallet jacks, and may climb 1 ½ feet to access a forklift.
The employee stands for approximately 12 hours and frequently walks in the production area to locate materials and check inventory.
The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, moderate to very loud noise levels, and temperature variances (extreme heat in summer, cold in winter). The employee is continuously exposed to these conditions while working in a teamwork environment.
Shift TimesDay Shift – 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or Night Shift – 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
