Medical Assistant, Orthopaedic Technician

Directly responsible for administrative and non‑administrative functions in delivering care to patients during the rooming process.

Essential Functions
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers through prompt response and courteous communication.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels—patients, co‑workers, supervisors, and physicians—both verbally and in writing using the AIDET framework.
  • Assist and coordinate patient/clinic flow.
  • Responsible for rooming patients, taking height and weight, and ordering x‑rays.
  • Pull reports/films for test appointments.
  • Enter and verify PFSH/HIA in the electronic health record.
  • Facilitate patient’s care by completing all entry of patient information into the chart by the end of the day.
  • Coordinate with other departments or physician offices.
Other Duties
  • Phone support.
  • Anticipate ways to improve patient care and experience.
  • Assist in the evaluation, development, and effectiveness of systems and protocols.
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or high school diploma/GED with Medical Assistant Certification and 2 years medical office experience.
  • Knowledge of EHR system.
  • Type at least 40 WPM.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • In‑depth knowledge of pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, surgical procedures, and treatment modalities.
  • Must be able to spell accurately.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task and prioritize.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA requirements.
Physical & Mental Requirements
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk and reach for extended periods.
  • Work well under pressure.
  • Read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction.
  • Communicate via telephone and written word with patients and coworkers.
  • Move about a clinic setting.
