The PRN Staff Radiation Therapist applies ionizing radiation in the Radiation Oncology Department, delivering precise therapy in accordance with physician prescriptions. They operate radiation equipment safely, perform complex technical procedures, and assess patient needs across all age groups.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver consistent, accurate treatment to designated areas
- Assess patients and perform procedures with specialty care, documenting in EMR
- Educate patients and families on treatment side effects and safety measures
- Ensure safety protocols, including radiation safety badges and universal precautions
- Participate in quality control, daily warm-up procedures, and on-call rotations
- Simulate new patients and schedule treatments, communicating changes effectively
- Assist and support team members, and serve as a clinical instructor for students
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited Radiation Therapy or Radiologic Technology program
- ARRT Radiation Therapy certification and BLS Instructor certification are required upon hire
- Minimum of 1 year radiation therapy experience
- Ability to treat and simulate patients accurately and safely
