Responsibilities- Direct safety and compliance programs through effective leadership.
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations.
- Work with the Safety Director to design and direct programs to reduce accidents, occupational illness, and exposure to long‑term health hazards.
- Partner with operations teams to develop best practices and training programs.
- Plan and deliver training for managers and employees on lockout/tagout, ergonomics, PPE, fire prevention and protection, and hazard communication.
- Conduct incident causal analyses and assess health hazards to target prevention strategies and measure financial impact. Prepare and maintain required documentation of incident reports, statistical analyses and other reports for company personnel and outside agencies.
- Administer policies and procedures and manage staff related to the company’s safety program and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze, review, prepare and submit recommendations to the Safety Director and various leadership teams for action plans to minimize company exposure to worker’s compensation costs.
- Conduct work‑site assessments to identify and evaluate safety and health risks, compliance exposures and management system deficiencies; develop strategies to reduce or eliminate these risks.
- Perform additional duties as required or requested.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Five (5) plus years of safety and health leadership and management experience preferred.
- In‑depth knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, procedures and practical application governing workplace safety.
- Demonstrated experience leading or facilitating the development and implementation of business‑oriented projects.
- Ability to perform in high‑pressure environments and/or crisis situations and render sound decisions.
- Ability to act as a managerial advisor on professional and technical safety issues.
- Ability to travel to regional facilities for review, assessment and training—travel up to 50% (first 2 months up to 75%).
- Regular use of hands to handle objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; communicate verbally; frequent walking, standing and occasional sitting.
- Regularly lift, pull or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 70 pounds; visual requirements include close vision.
