Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Weld metal parts together, using both gas welding and any combination of welding process.
- Fabricate or repair products according to layouts, blueprints, and work orders on samples.
- Perform related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding.
- Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes, and increase size of metal parts.
- Locate and repair cracks using inspection equipment and gas torch.
- Ensure gases are properly stored.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as required.
- Perform in‑process inspection of equipment.
- Assist with any other job‑related duties as required.
- Ensure safety at all times and report issues to Production Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Education/
Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 2‑4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates and Licenses:
- Metal inert gas welding certification
- Knowledge of working with stainless steel, steel, aluminum, and bronze is essential.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints.
- Ability to fabricate jobs from drawings.
- Ability to use tape measure, dial calipers, and fixtures.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems as they arise.
- Familiarity with machine shop environment and prior tungsten inert gas welding experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat (non‑weather). The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
