Overview

Join to apply for the Welder role at Miller Clapperton. The position is for individuals interested in metal fabrication. Welding parts per the shop drawings, operating machinery, bending, punching, and/or shearing of metal products as instructed by supervisors. Produce a variety of parts, all of which must meet the dimensional, structural, and visual specifications of the shop drawings.

Responsibilities
  • Create quality welds according to part drawings
  • Inspect completed welds for quality and integrity
  • Prepare products to be welded by grinding, drilling, sawing, and plasma cutting steel and aluminum parts
  • Finishing parts as required using a wide variety of metal finishing tools
  • Set up and maintain welding equipment
  • Responsible for the proper packaging, identifying, and moving of all finished products to the proper location
  • Keep work area clean and organized
  • Work on other types of metal fabricating equipment as needed
Qualifications & Skills
  • Must always work safely
  • Must always wear approved safety equipment (PPE)
  • Be able to read a tape measure to the 32nd of an inch and read calipers
  • Produce parts accurately by using shop drawings
  • Use a wide variety of hand tools required in metal fabrication
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; lifting up to 75 pounds, bending, kneeling, and other physical activities required
  • Experience with Mig and Tig welding on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, thickness ranges from 0.040–¾"
  • Current welding certifications a plus
  • Self-starter with the ability to learn multiple tasks quickly
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Ability to weld and finish with minimal warpage and distortion
  • Willingness to work overtime, sometimes on short notice

  • Ability to work with Miller Clapperton personnel across roles
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
