The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high‑quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and are supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is steered by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence‑based practice and research.
RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values. Licensed RN Clinical Nurses uphold the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, the Scope of Practice, and the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, and they support system policies and procedures while advancing service excellence goals.
- Performs the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) using evidence‑based practice, analytical and critical thinking to ensure individualized care and effective collaboration.
- Provides relationship‑based, patient‑centered care that reflects cultural diversity and adapts service delivery to the needs of the population.
- Partners with patients and significant others to set and pursue patient goals, using appropriate communication methods such as bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds and teaching.
- Practices current clinical standards while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to deliver safe and high‑quality care.
- Coordinates delivery and documentation of patient care, ensuring timely and respectful communication across the workforce.
- Demonstrates fiscal responsibility and supports recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members.
- Participates in performance improvement, research utilization and shared governance to promote safe, quality patient care.
- Completes all initial and ongoing competency assessments, mandatory education, and population‑specific training.
- Serves as a preceptor or mentor for professional nurses and other disciplines, fostering workforce readiness and a healthy work environment.
- Promotes evidence‑based practice, nursing research and performance improvement, including value analysis for decision‑making.
- Upholds system policies, procedural compliance, and accreditation standards such as TJC Patient Safety Goals and Wellstar Health Systems' safety absolutes.
- Participates in data collection, formulates clinical questions, consults experts and uses evidence to answer practice questions.
- Plans care across the continuum of care, supports efficient use of human and material resources.
- Contributes to protocol and procedure development to achieve best practices (e.g., reducing re‑admissions, avoidable days, adverse events).

Minimum Education
- Graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing (Required).
- Bachelor's Degree (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing (Preferred).
- Reg Nurse (Single State) – 1.00 Required
- RN – Multi‑state Compact – 1.00 Required
- Basic Life Support – 2.00 Required
- BLS – Instructor – 2.00 Required
- BLS – Provisional – 2.00 Required
- Ability to read, write and speak English and use basic technology to support clinical care.
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer‑service skills.
- Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment, respond to emergencies with decisiveness, composure, and respect.
- Excellent time‑management skills.
