The Beauty Advisor (BA) is responsible for providing an exceptional experience for all Ulta Beauty guests by engaging each guest to determine their individual needs, conducting cashier tasks, keeping fixtures stocked with merchandise, maintaining overall store cleanliness and completing tasks as assigned. The BA supports the leadership team through a focus on performance (service/retail sales and in-store events), people (guest service), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards).
PrincipalDuties & Responsibilities Performance
- Contribute to meeting or exceeding store goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omni‑channel sales, and retail shrink.
- Provide exceptional service by greeting and engaging each guest, personalizing service, answering product questions, informing about promotions, and recommending complementary Ulta Beauty products.
- Handle customer service, sales, refunds, exchanges, and assist with online orders courteously.
- Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales.
- Book appointments for services and in‑store events that deliver an unrivaled guest experience while meeting sales goals.
- Stay informed about new and existing products and services during work time.
- Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
- Contribute to an inclusive environment that supports teammates, peers, and guests.
- Share the benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
- Collaborate with managers and associates to grow the business.
- Participate in ongoing training, including brand and category education.
- Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
- Adhere to Ulta Beauty’s dress code.
- Drive sales by replenishing the assigned work area, signing and facing, and ensuring testers are available.
- Maintain overall store cleanliness.
- Participate in merchandise resets, planograms, displays, inventory procedures, and processing/unloading shipments using Ulta Beauty’s technology.
- Protect company assets by following loss prevention best practices.
- Execute other operational tasks as directed.
- High school diploma is preferred.
- 1 year of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred.
- Passion for guest service and competency for selling.
- Proficiency with basic technology (e.g., Point of Sale system and Apple devices).
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Ability to troubleshoot.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Position Requirements
- Work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Continuous mobility throughout the store during shift.
- Frequent standing, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, and twisting.
- Continuous and/or frequent lifting, carrying, and/or moving up to 25 lbs.
- Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.
