*** Diesel Hostler Truck Mechanics*
* ** Austell, GA
**** Shift Times:
** 3pm-1130pm and 1130pm-730am (weekend availability)

* SUMMARY:

** Performs preventative and emergency maintenance on hostler trucks, vans, and pick-up trucks. Cleans shop area and performs stocking functions.

Job Description ****:
**** Diesel Mechanic

Duties and Responsibilities:

*** Inspects equipment for damage or failures, performs diagnostic and repair services, fuels equipment, breaks down and reassembles tires, and removes and replaces damaged or defective components, including fabricating parts as needed.
* Follows checklist of inspection procedures.
* Test drives vehicles to diagnose malfunctions.
* Performs routine maintenance functions and adjustments on all types of hostlers, diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailing equipment, in compliance with the manufacturers and company schedules.
* All work performed must be done in a safe and efficient manner.
* Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
* Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
* Rivet, bolt, glue, braze or weld to fabricate, modify or design replacement parts for equipment
* Fabricate, cut, shape, and perform finish operations using various types of materials

* Qualifications:

*** Valid driver’s license
* Previous auto and truck mechanical experience required
* Good understanding of established safety rules, policies, and procedures, including wearing required safety equipment
* Good written and oral communication skills
* Commitment to excellence and high standards
* Ability to work with minimal supervision
* Ability to manage priorities and workflow
* Ability to understand any and all safety requirements and cautions.
* Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
* Ability to perform the physical labor necessary
* Familiarity with relevant safety and security regulations
* Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

* Protective clothing or equipment is required that may include gloves, hardhat, steel-toed boots, and protective eyewear.
* The noise level in the work environment usually is loud
