PATIENT DINING ASSOCIATE (DIETARY AIDE) (PART TIME)
Compass One Healthcare is hiring part‑time Patient Dining Associates to support care at Mayo Clinic, 1000 First Drive Northwest, Austin, MN 55912. Online applications only.
Fixed Pay Rate: $18.65 per hour.
Schedule: Part‑time, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Days may vary, including rotating weekends. Further details will be provided during the interview.
Patient Dining Associates work on assigned units in a healthcare facility, helping patients make menu selections, assemble, deliver, and pick‑up meal trays. They are part of the caregiving team, responsible for patient safety and satisfaction by ensuring meals are accurate, delivered on time, and at the correct temperature.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Help patients understand menu selections and work with nursing staff to ensure orders comply with nutritional requirements or restrictions.
- Collaborate with caregivers and culinary staff to determine menu alternatives for patients with food allergies, sensitivities, cultural, ethnic, or religious preferences, or additional selection inquiries.
- Manage tray tickets and assemble meals according to each patient’s order, retrieving trays from patient rooms at assigned times.
- Comply with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state, and JCAHO guidelines, and adhere to confidentiality and patient rights policies under HIPAA.
- Follow Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines when handling food, cleaning workstations, and breaking down patient tray lines.
- Follow facility and department infection control policies.
- Assist dietitians by monitoring patients who cannot eat orally, are on liquid diets, or require specific calorie counts.
- Communicate problems or concerns with patients to appropriate personnel in a timely manner, following department procedures.
- Complete all required daily, weekly, or monthly reports as outlined in company policies and procedures.
- Comply with federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations, and department sanitation procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English.
- Basic computer and mathematical skills.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds and maneuver food delivery carts.
