Position Summary & Requirements

The Cost Accounting Manager will establish and develop the cost accounting function and its supporting systems. The role collaborates with operations, engineering, supply chain, and finance to facilitate a smooth production ramp while ensuring accurate cost capture. This is an excellent opportunity to design, document, and scale the approach.

Essential Functions

Design, calibrate, and operate standard cost models for materials, labor, and overhead.

Map and implement inventory accounting in the ERP, including BOM structure, routings, and item master governance with operations and engineering.

Develop and maintain cost accounting policies compliant with US GAAP, with clear documentation.

Collaborate across teams to reconcile inventory issues and strengthen control activities.

Determine inventory valuation, reserves, and set capitalization rules for tools and builds.

Quantify material and production variances and coordinate corrective actions with stakeholders.

Plan and execute cycle counts and annual counts, recording adjustments in the ERP.

Manage month-end activities for inventory and production accounts, ensuring timely reconciliations.

Support accounting for installed systems in the field, including deployments, component exchanges, and returns.

Coach non-accounting partners on core inventory and costing concepts.

Assist with related tasks as needed to support the close process and operations.

Experience / Qualifications

Minimum five years in manufacturing and cost accounting, with leadership experience.

Expertise in standard cost, BOMs, routings, and inventory accounting.

CMA or CPA preferred. SQL or BI skills are a plus.

Extensive experience with manufacturing ERP systems and item master governance.

Strong skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Proven ability in variance analysis and root cause problem-solving.

Effective communicator, partnering well with supply chain, engineering, operations, and finance.

Experience with complex assemblies or electro-mechanical products.

Comfortable working in a high-growth environment with changing priorities.
