Responsibilities
  • Prepares the Department’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report in collaboration with the accounting team.
  • Assists in preparing three additional stand‑alone audited reports for the Texas Mobility Fund, Grand Parkway Transportation Corporation, and Central Texas Turnpike System.
  • Prepares journal entries and vouchers for posting to the People Soft Accounting System and the Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS).
  • Ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Coordinates data collection for the annual financial audit.
  • Represents the Department in meetings with auditors and other governmental officials and participates in financial system development and testing activities.
  • Develops and produces complex reports for monitoring and reporting agency financial information.
  • Provides accounting‑related information to TxDOT districts, divisions, other state agencies, internal and external auditors, the Legislature, and the Governor.
  • Researches accounting discrepancies and reconciles accounts.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or a finance‑related discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year‑per‑year basis.

Experience: 2 years accounting related work (Experience can be satisfied by full‑time or prorated part‑time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year‑per‑year basis.

Licenses and

Certifications:

Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Finance‑related is highly preferred.
