Steven Douglas has been exclusively engaged on a unique search for a Family Office Accounting opportunity in Austin, Texas. This role is on-site, 5 days a week. Firm is offering relocation assistance.
* This role is supporting the CEO and founder's family office investments of one of Austin's top private equity firms.*
This is a newly created role for an experienced Accountant who will partner across the Finance team to support a broad range of accounting and tax functions. Core responsibilities will include preparing and posting accounting entries, monthly accounting close, and tax reporting processes. He or she will also work cross-functionally on ad-hoc projects and long-term strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities- Prepare analysis and account reconciliations for financial accounts across multiple legal entities
- Prepare and post journal entries as part of the day-to-day accounting operations
- Maintain accuracy of the general ledger and support monthly and quarterly close processes
- Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements and prepare supporting documentation for internal management, tax, compliance and statutory purposes
- Compile and prepare PBC schedules and documentation for the external tax preparer
- Assist with partnership and trust accounting for family office entities
- Assist in preparing expense analysis and variance reports
- Assist with various ad hoc operational and administrative tasks as requested
- Support an environment of continual process improvement, identifying areas to improve accuracy, enhance reporting, improve processes and/or gain operational efficiencies
- Foster positive, collaborative environment by promoting transparency and clear communication
- Personal and professional integrity
- Ideally at least 5 years of hands‑on accounting experience, ideally within a family office, private investment firm, or reputable tax/accounting organization serving UHNW clients
- Strong proficiency in general ledger management, journal entries, reconciliations, and month‑end close processes
- Experience with Schedule K‑1s and partnership allocations
- Experience with partnership and trust tax accounting is a plus
- Experience working with multiple legal entities and complex ownership structures
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple work streams
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to exercise the highest level of discretion in handling sensitive information
- Strong computer skills including high proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge in Quick Books and/or Microsoft Dynamics a plus
- Bachelor’s of Business Administration required (Accounting major preferred)
