Senior Accountant

We've partnered with a client in Austin to find a Senior Accountant to join their team! This role will be responsible for various month-end close and reconciliation activities.

Responsibilities:

• Key contributor monthly accounting close for multiple entities, including preparation and posting of journal entries
• Prepare and/or review balance sheet reconciliations
• Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and anomalies
• Assist with preparation and dissemination of monthly, quarterly, annual and ad-hoc financial reports
• Process reports incoming from Managing General Agents and prepare outgoing reports to Brokers and Reinsurers
• Manage third-party communication
• Assist with external and regulatory audit requests, premium tax return preparation, and other regulatory requirements
• Various projects as needed

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
• Prior insurance experience is a non-negotiable
• Working knowledge of statutory accounting principles
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel
• Possess strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Strong time management and organization skills with the ability to multi-task
• Results oriented, flexible, enthusiastic, self-motivated team player
• Effective verbal and written communicator

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience interpreting and accounting for complex reinsurance, Managing General Agent and Third Party Administrator agreements

Comp range will vary on level of experience $90k-$115k plus bonus.
