Accounting Manager

The ideal candidate will lead the accounting function for a rapidly growing, utilities organization. This individual will take ownership of the accounting team, establish processes and procedures, partner closely with operations leadership, and provide accurate financial reporting to support continued growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the accounting team, including billing, accounts payable, and payroll functions.
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare and present financial statements and management reports to senior leadership.
• Develop, implement, and improve accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls.
• Partner with project managers and operational leaders to monitor project performance and profitability.
• Oversee account reconciliations, cash management, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience required.
• Public accounting and industry experience preferred.
• Strong financial reporting and month-end close experience.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with operational teams and field personnel.
• Experience in construction, project accounting, utilities, engineering, or other project-based environments is a plus.
• Self-starter with a hands-on approach and a desire to build and improve processes.
