This is one of those roles that is hard to fit into a box — and that’s probably part of what makes it interesting. You’ll have real ownership and interact in a meaningful way with people at all levels .

Our client is looking for a Director of Accounting with a heavy focus in nonprofit organizations. Ideally, you will have worked with Federal grants, restricted assets, revenue recognition and have overseen multiple teams.

The person who will do well here is not someone who wants to stay buried in the technical accounting. You need to be strong technically, but you also must like people, problem-solving, and being the person everyone calls when something is complicated.

You’ll oversee a team that is responsible for the financial and operational side of their assigned organizations.

The TEAM is responsible for:

• International accounting and/or multi-entity accounting preferred
• Nonprofit, NGO, foundation, or fiscal sponsorship experience
• Accounting for grants and restricted funds applying ASC 606
• Multi-currency and intercompany accounting
• Audit and financial reporting
• Client service or outsourced accounting
• Team leadership

• 8–10+ years of progressive nonprofit accounting/finance experience who has already handled complex accounting work and led people.
• Grant accounting, ASC 606 and complex financial statement preparation required.
• CPA or MBA, or similar credential is preferred, but not required.
