This position coordinates and oversees daily warehouse operations and participates in office moves, packing, and transporting goods for customers. It provides day-to-day management of operational functions, including supervising automated procurement processes and supporting housing-related departmental activities. The role delivers excellent customer support while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The operator directs and monitors warehouse activities and serves as the primary purchasing liaison with multiple vendors, contractors, and professional staff.

It requires a balance of leadership, operational expertise, and customer service to maintain efficient warehouse operations.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of a complex warehouse system; maintain and administer inventory of equipment, tools, materials, and supplies in a comprehensive database to ensure proper tracking and costing of commodities used in client homes.
  • Develop and maintain detailed distribution and receiving processes for warehouse. Implement quality control measures to ensure proper documentation for job costing and inventory control. Ensure test equipment is calibrated and maintained to meet program obligations.
  • Serve as purchasing liaison with vendors, contractors and staff to obtain price quotes on non-contracted materials and supplies; ensure high-quality merchandise at competitive prices. Prepare requisitions, receive and process invoices for payment in automated systems; train and monitor staff in requisition preparation; resolve issues related to invoices and purchase orders with inter- and in-department staff.
  • Plan, organize, and communicate with supervisors and assessors to ensure materials and supplies are available for all work projects. Obtain daily status updates on contracted services and installed equipment. Ensure staff have required personal protective equipment and a safe working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with current policies, procedures, and regulations. Monitor budgets and collaborate with vendors and staff to monitor contract compliance. Compile data and develop reports. Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, and county laws and guidelines.
  • Receive, monitor, track, and process purchase requests for materials, supplies, and contracted services. Verify transaction accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and obtain required authorizations. Document and track purchasing activities to ensure timely processing of requests.
  • Perform other related job duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience: High School diploma or G.E.D. AND five (5) years progressively responsible experience in warehouse operations or related field, including one (1) year of lead experience; OR any combination of education and experience equivalent to the stated requirements that demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform duties.

Licenses, Registrations, Certifications, or Special Requirements: Valid Texas Driver's License. Forklift certification.

Preferred: Experience in automated inventory systems. Spanish speaking.

Work Environment & Other Information

Physical requirements include the ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds regularly, with occasional assistance for heavier lifts; visual and auditory requirements; manual dexterity to operate a computer. Duties may involve standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and working in cramped spaces for extended periods. May involve exposure to hazardous materials, loud noises, dust, chemicals, and varying weather.
