We are looking for an Assistant Project Manager for a client in Austin, TX. This is a 2‑year construction project looking for an entire execution team from project management, construction management through to engineering and project controls.
Key Responsibilities- Site Oversight: Monitoring the EPC contractor’s safety performance and adherence to construction safety programs.
- Team Leadership: Managing a team of site discipline engineers and Owner’s Engineers to support construction, startup, and commissioning.
- Compliance & Quality: Ensuring all QA/QC procedures are followed and witnessing critical construction hold points.
- Reporting: Keeping the Construction Project Manager informed of technical or commercial non-conformance and schedule delays.
- Financial & Contractual Management: Evaluating change orders, verifying construction milestones with independent engineers, and supporting budget and cost controls.
- Project Completion: Coordinating with O&M contractors to verify system turnover packages and witnessing all performance testing.
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in power plant construction, specifically with major fossil‑fueled or CCGT projects.
- Project Scale: Preference for experience managing projects exceeding $500 million.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of CCGT technology, air‑cooled condensers, and the EPC process.
- Project Controls: Proficiency in project management tools for reviewing schedules, scope, and contractual obligations.
- Safety & Craft: Proven ability to identify safety issues and a high level of functional knowledge regarding construction crafts and equipment.
- Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills for building relationships with contractors and consultants.
The role is primarily based outdoors on a construction site. While irregular hours and weekend work are required only rarely, the manager must oversee direct reports including the Site Procurement and Site Contract Managers.
