A growing design and construction-focused firm is currently seeking an experienced Construction Administrator to join its team in Austin, TX. This individual will be a key player in guiding projects from paper to reality ensuring designs are executed with accuracy, consistency, and quality throughout the construction phase.
The ideal candidate will serve as the bridge between clients, contractors, and design professionals, offering practical insight and technical oversight that ensures projects meet expectations on time and on budget.
ABOUTTHE ROLE
In this position, you will lead and coordinate construction administration efforts on mid-to-large scale healthcare and educational facilities. Youll represent the firm in construction meetings, monitor jobsite activity, and ensure documentation and communication flow smoothly among all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and manage documentation related to the construction phase: RFIs, submittals, change requests, ASIs, and contracts
- Conduct reviews of contractor submittals for consistency with design intent
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, owners, and contractors to resolve field issues quickly and clearly
- Perform site visits to verify quality and compliance with project specifications
- Approve contractor pay applications in accordance with work progress
- Serve as the firm's on-site representative for coordination and communication
- Travel to project sites primarily throughout Central Texas, with occasional travel outside the region
This role is best suited for someone with hands-on field experience and a strong understanding of how design translates into construction. You must be organized, proactive, and comfortable interfacing with multiple stakeholders under deadline-driven conditions.
Preferred Qualifications- 57 years in construction administration or a related architecture / engineering / construction position
- Bachelor's degree in architecture, construction management, or a related field (preferred, not required)
- Strong knowledge of AIA documentation and industry-standard construction protocols
- Familiarity with building systems, materials, and installation practices
- Working knowledge of Newforma or similar project management tools is a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
