Overview
Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice in Graphic Design for Digital Media at the University of Texas Department of Design invites applications from candidates with a practice in graphic design for digital media, with innovative pedagogical approaches and university teaching experience. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience. Residency in or relocation to Austin, TX is required.
Responsibilities- Teach the equivalent of three courses each semester in digital media, including but not limited to UI/UX, web design, emerging media in graphic design, motion graphics, and introduction to graphic design.
- Actively participate in department service through committees, work groups, and special projects.
- Maintain professional practice and engagement with the current state of the field.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university-wide meetings and events.
- Graduate degree in design, fine arts, or a relevant field.
- Teaching experience evidenced by a selection of student work.
- Practice in graphic design for digital media demonstrated through a portfolio.
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, Figma, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Premiere.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and complex work environment and to collaborate effectively within diverse teams.
- A Master of Fine Arts (MFA), Master of Science (MS), or other terminal degree in Graphic Design.
- At least two years of teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
- Excellence in practice in graphic design for digital media demonstrated through significant professional achievements.
- Experience in administrative work within a dynamic academic environment and collaboration within diverse teams.
- Evidence of practice-led or practice-based research in Human-Computer Interaction resulting in publications or patents.
- Ability to adjust teaching and mentoring methods for students from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience developing new coursework and course materials.
- Experience mentoring students or professionals, including career coaching and networking.
