Role Overview :

The Freelance Social Content Editor is a part-time, fully remote role responsible for editing short-form video content for client social channels. Working from raw footage, briefs, and creative direction, this role turns shoots and source material into polished, platform-ready content — cut, captioned, and optimized for Tik Tok, Instagram Reels, You Tube Shorts, and other social formats.

This role partners closely with Indie’s creative, social & influencer, and production teams, turning around edits quickly, incorporating feedback across revision rounds, and keeping pace with trends in social-first editing styles, sounds, and formats.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Edit short-form video content for client social channels from raw footage, UGC, and creator content
  • Deliver platform-ready edits — correct specs, aspect ratios, captions, and formats — for Tik Tok, Instagram Reels, You Tube Shorts, and other channels
  • Add captions, text overlays, graphics, music, and sound design aligned to each brand’s style and current platform trends
  • Incorporate feedback quickly and accurately across multiple revision rounds
  • Manage multiple edits across concurrent client projects, hitting agreed turnaround times
  • Organize and deliver final files according to Indie’s naming and file standards
  • Stay current on social editing trends — formats, sounds, pacing, and platform best practices — and bring that knowledge to the work
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience editing video content, with a focus on short-form social content
  • Proficiency in Cap Cut and other editing tools commonly used for social content (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, or in-platform native editors)
  • Strong grasp of social platform specs, formats, and editing conventions (Tik Tok, Instagram Reels, You Tube Shorts)
  • A portfolio or reel demonstrating social-first editing work
  • Fast, reliable turnaround and clear communication in a remote workflow
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented across multiple concurrent projects
  • Based in the US and able to work with US time zones
  • Agency or consultancy experience preferred
  • Experience working with consumer or CPG brands preferred
