Key Responsibilities
  • Track US news and politics throughout the day and identify important developments.
  • Produce breaking-news posts, updates, news summaries, and other social-first content.
  • Verify information using primary sources, official statements, public records, interviews, and credible reporting.
  • Follow developing stories closely and publish updates as new information becomes available.
  • Select relevant images, videos, graphics, and other visual elements for each post.
  • Adapt the presentation, length, and format of content for each social platform.
  • Work with editors and other team members to coordinate coverage and maintain accuracy.
  • Manage multiple developing stories and meet time-sensitive publishing deadlines.

  • Support coverage during major political events, elections, and breaking news, including occasional evening or weekend work.
What You Will Need
  • Strong professional experience producing social media content for a news, politics, or current-affairs brand.
  • Strong knowledge of US politics, government, elections, public policy, and national news.
  • A thorough approach to tracking political developments and following stories as they evolve.
  • Excellent news judgment and the ability to identify important updates and relevant angles.
  • Strong research, verification, fact-checking, and writing skills.
  • An understanding of how news content should be presented across different social platforms.
  • The ability to write clear, accurate social copy under tight deadlines while distinguishing confirmed facts, reported claims, analysis, and opinion.
  • The ability to manage multiple stories, respond to feedback, and work independently.
  • Availability to cover time-sensitive stories when required.
  • The ability to produce original, independently written work. AI-generated or AI-rewritten copy will not be accepted.
