BIM Technician I is responsible for creating a digital representation of a project. The BIM Technician I outputs information from the model/database to facilitate processes including estimate comparisons, bill of materials creation, manufacturing, and installation of the scope of work.
Responsibilities- Generates three‑dimensional design models of structures and spaces using digital technology such as Revit, Navisworks, and Stratus.
- Creates submittal drawings, internal shop drawings, installation drawings, and prefabrication/manufacturing build sheets or build drawings.
- Assists higher‑level BIM Technicians in the process of gathering robotic total station layout points.
- Updates models and drawings per as‑built drawings.
- Processes 3D scans to create and/or verify a model.
- Maintains all assigned design project files and folders.
- Generates and sends Information Confirming and Acknowledgement of Request Emails to Project Managers under the supervision of a Project Designer or higher‑level BIM Technician.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Installation & Planning Manager.
- Internship or minimum 6 months related work experience required.
- Associate’s degree in a related area of study preferred.
- Prior experience in the construction industry is preferred.
- Experience using Procure is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Able to demonstrate knowledge of basic geometry and able to visualize in 3 dimensions.
- Able to learn Blue Beam, Zoom, Teams, Smartsheet, Revit, Navisworks, Procore, Stratus and other related software.
- Able to learn and maintain a working knowledge of the National Electric Code, BIM symbology, and construction safety.
- Able to work well in teams.
- Able to complete continuous education courses and training as required.
- Office environment with some travel to job sites required.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
