Tradewell Fellowship - Healthcare Planning & Design

Opportunity Overview

Tradewell Fellowship is a one‑year program focused on front‑end healthcare planning and design. Fellows will work in one of Stantec’s participating healthcare offices and will receive immersive participation, industry exposure, and career‑building opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Work alongside senior healthcare planners and designers on a variety of projects, from initial master planning to design.
  • Create a portfolio of work suitable for presentation and/or publication by the end of the fellowship year.
  • Build lasting connections in the field and enhance career prospects.
  • Become a thought leader within the healthcare planning and design community.
  • Attend a relevant conference of choice related to healthcare planning, design, and construction.
Qualifications
  • Hold an accredited first‑professional degree in architecture from an NAAB, CACB, or equivalent program.
  • Be legally authorized to work in the United States for the contiguous 12‑month period.
  • Possess knowledge of Revit and 3‑D design software (preferred).
  • Demonstrate effective communication, organization, and presentation skills.
  • Show ability to work in a fast‑paced, challenging work environment.
  • Have prior internship experience (preferred).
  • Understand LEED principles (plus).
Application Timeline

Complete the online application and submit all supporting materials by midnight CST on Monday, January 12, 2026. Shortlisted candidates may be asked to participate in a brief video conference interview within two weeks. Applicants will be notified by mid‑February.

  • Resume (one page)
  • Statement of Intent/Purpose – In 35 words or less, describe how the Tradewell Fellowship will impact your journey in healthcare architecture.
  • Personal Essay – In one page or less, explain your general architecture and healthcare architecture accomplishments that have influenced your interest in healthcare design and why you would be a good fit for the fellowship.
  • Design Work – A compilation of images and text representing your design work (maximum 10 pages, no larger than 11”x17”). Specify individual vs group projects and your role.
  • Three reference letters – Minimum of one academic and one professional reference. Letters should specify qualifications for the fellowship and are sent directly to
  • Indicate top three location preferences:
    Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Washington D.C. Complete one application only.
Pay Range
  • Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & various CA, NJ areas: $66,800.00 – $93,500.00 annually.
Benefits Summary
