Project Landscape Architect

Overview

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Project Landscape Architect to join our team. The position will work in a collaborative and integrated team of professionals that include landscape architects, civil engineers, planners, surveyors, environmental scientists, and transportation engineers. The primary responsibilities include design/graphic leadership for specific landscape architectural scope of work on a multi-discipline project managed by another in-house professional, or landscape architectural scope of work managed by an outside firm, government, or developer.

This person is the point of contact for the Client or in-house Project Manager, and responsible for all aspects of management and delivery of the applicable scope of work.

Location:

Austin, TX (in-office full-time).

• Coordinate efforts of Graduate Landscape Designers (GLD) to assist in the production of work as needed.
• Often self-produce graphics, plans, and specifications for the scope of work.
• Assist the Landscape Architectural Service Leader in training GLDs with standards.
• Ensure GLD’s implement illustration, design and CAD standards established for the group.
• Review planned submittals to Client or Project Manager for completeness.
• Coordinate with Senior Landscape Architect for interim reviews and ultimate signing and sealing of documents.
• Build increasing skills in Client management.
• Prepare scopes and fees for projects requested by the Project Manager or Client for review by the Landscape Architectural Service Leader.
• Demonstrate a clear design methodology that results in creative, sound solutions to given problems.
• Prepare basic hardscape, grading, planting and irrigation graphics, plans, and illustrations using both digital and hand-drawn formats.
• Lead project meetings with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies.
• Lead construction administration scopes of services for the proposed scope of services.

• Professional with Landscape Architecture experience.
• Proficiency in software required to lead a small team of professional landscape designers.
• Strong freehand illustration and computer rendering skills.
• Track record of successful management of landscape architectural scopes of work within a larger project.
• Positive leadership and mentorship ethic.
• Careful dedication and attention to organization and processes.
• Experience preparing invoices for clients and writing proposals.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited university with a degree in Landscape Architecture.
• 7+ years of professional experience.

• Registered Landscape Architect license preferred or ability to obtain within one year of employment.
