We are a custom sewing workroom specializing in high-end interior soft goods for interior designers, including pillows, cushions, and other custom‑fabric projects. We are seeking a part‑time Workroom Manager / Assistant to help keep our studio organized, efficient, and client‑focused.
This is a hands‑on, fast‑paced, and physical role that blends customer interaction, project coordination, and shop organization.
✨This position is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in learning the soft goods side of the interior design world. The experience gained in this role provides valuable, real‑world knowledge that translates well to future positions within an interior design firm or related creative industry.
Key Responsibilities- Greet and interact with customers and interior designers
- Discuss project details, construction methods, and timelines with clients
- Receive and check in customer projects, fabric, and deliveries
- Organize, describe, and distribute work orders to independent sewing contractors
- Manage pillow insert inventory and general shop supplies
- Maintain overall shop organization and workflow
- Lift and move materials, packages, and inserts (must be able to lift 50+ lbs)
- Communicate clearly with contractors regarding project requirements and expectations
- Working knowledge of sewing and soft goods construction (Ability to confidently discuss how items are made)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable in a busy, production-style environment
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Physically able to lift, carry, and move materials as needed
- Interested in interior design, textiles, and fabrication
- Enjoys organization and creating systems
- Comfortable being on their feet and moving throughout the day
- Can think critically about construction details and problem‑solving
- Reliable, self‑directed, and detail‑oriented
- Part‑time position
- Hours:
Monday - Thursday: 12pm-4pm, Friday: 9-4pm - Opportunity for additional hours when occasional extra coverage is needed
- Location:
Austin, 78756 - Pay: $20-$23/hour
