Interior Designer time, Temporary

This is a Full-time (Temporary) position and is not eligible for benefits.

Under supervision of the Planning, Design and Construction Division Manager, coordinates with Facilities Management Department project managers, design professionals and various County departments on procurement of new furniture and scheduling of move services in an efficient and timely manner in support of new constructions, renovations and departmental relocations. Supervises in-house furniture movers, develops and manages schedules and assignments and evaluates job performance.

This is in a series of architectural-related job classifications within the Engineering and Architectural job family. This classification is distinguished by the scope of project work, educational requirements and supervisory responsibilities for a team of County movers. This classification may require a flexible work schedule in order to meet the needs of the department.

• Performs analysis of existing furniture assets as to condition and suitability for new construction, renovation and relocations.
• Researches and selects furniture, both case goods and systems, as required for new construction and/or renovation projects.
• Coordinates delivery and assembly of furniture assets as per required timing as identified by the Facilities Project Manager.
• Applies knowledge, analysis and management of move services provided by contracted professional movers and in-house movers. Obtains price proposals, performs negotiations and monitors move services.
• Responsible for research of appropriate furniture, fixtures and equipment items to support projects, design layouts, procurement and coordinating delivery and installation of these items.
• Ensures furniture and move services are provided within allotted time frame and budget of the project.
• Directs in-house mover staff. Interviews, hires, directs, develops and evaluates employee performance. Counsels employees as necessary to improve performance.
• Develops and maintains a database of purchased County furniture budgeted by the Facilities Management Department.
• Develops designs for spatial needs using REVIT or AutoCAD software.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or Architecture or related field AND two (2) years of directly related experience in furniture selection and/or managing move services. Must be experienced in using REVIT or AutoCAD software.

Valid Texas Driver's License.

Must pass a criminal background check for CJIS clearance.

Applicants are required to successfully pass the background investigation, including fingerprint clearance.

• Business letter writing, grammar and punctuation and report preparation.
